Zealaner Alpaca Wool Quilt

Alpaca is relatively unknown shy and gentle animals were domesticated over 6000 years ago. They are cloven-hooved mammals from the camelidae family, close cousins of llamas. Alpacas come from South America, where the ancient Incas prized their precious fleece.

The fleece are much finer and softer than mohair, especially greater warmth. The fiber does not have lanoline therefore make it gentle to sensitive skins. There are many colour of fleece but we only choose white and golden colours to use for our quilt. The amazing qualities of alpaca fiber make it one of the most luxurious natural fibers in the world. Its quality is surpassed only by the fiber of the vicuña, a wild Andes-dwelling mammal considered to be an ancestor to the domesticated alpaca.

The fleeces made to quilt inner can keep you warm in winter and cooler in summer due to its unique fact of the fiber property. Each fiber has many air pockets which contracts and expands to the environment temperature.
